Report from the Nominating Committee
The election of the new Officers and Directors will be held at the membership meeting September 19 from the following slate submitted by the nominating committee:

Additional candidates may be placed in nomination by petition signed by at least 20% of the REALTOR® members eligible to vote. The petition shall be filed with the Secretary at least two weeks before the election. Notice of such additional nominations will be sent to all members eligible to vote before the election. (Article XI, Section 4, Bylaws of the Greater Rome Board of REALTORS®, Inc.)
Baptist Center
We will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable dry food for the Baptist Center in Rome for our September Community Service Project.
Thanks in advance for your continued generous spirit in supporting this project.
- Sympathy is extended to the family of Hugh Henderson, Henderson Real Estate, who passed away in June 2007.
- Mary Patton is recovering at home following her recent surgery.
- Jane Lyon, Toles Temple & Wright, is doing well following her recent heart surgery and is recovering at home.
- Joanne Edmonds, GRBR, has returned to work and appreciates all the convern, calls and cards received while she was recovering.

The Income Verification Express Service (IVES) provides two-business day processing and delivery of return transcripts. The new service replaces the existing process that required manual pick-up and delivery of transcripts from the eight IRS Return and Income Verification Service (RAIVS) units located across the country. Using IVES you pay only $4.50 per transcript.

“Traveling The Road to Opportunity” is the theme for this year’s Convention at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC, Sept. 5 – 8. The Trade Expo is sold out and there is an exciting line of vendors that can help you in all aspects of your real estate career. Over 800 people are registered for this convention. The last time NAR raised dues was 13 years ago when the national median price of a home was $111,300; less than 1 percent of home buyers used the Internet, and the number of REALTORS® was about 55% of what it is today. The real estate world has changed greatly since 1994. You will be receiving more information about this $16.00 dues increase with your annual dues statement, but we want you to be aware of this increase in your national dues. There are no plans to increase the 2008 state and local dues.
